What are signs of brain trauma?
After a shocking accident, you may notice signs of a worse issue happening with your brain and skull.
Traumatic brain injuries can happen suddenly and affect every aspect of your life. Detecting the early signs of this problem will help you prevent further health complications.
Physical problems
According to the Mayo Clinic, severe headaches and lingering nausea are two of the most common symptoms. Pain located in your head or spine can lead to dizziness and shortness of breath.
Although not every person with a head injury passes out, you may notice that you lose your balance more easily than before. Sometimes, you may even struggle to speak clearly to other people.
Sensory troubles
If you struggle to look directly at bright lights or feel overwhelmed by most sounds, then you may be suffering from sensory issues due to head trauma. Loud ringing noises in your ears can leave you feeling annoyed and tired at all hours of the day.
Tasting odd flavors in your mouth or noticing problems with your ability to smell can also come from brain trauma. Being able to concentrate on what you are doing or saying can also be a struggle, as well as relaxing enough to sleep.
Mental and emotional strain
If the injury continues to wear you down, it can often cause feelings of depression and anxiety. Dealing with problems like seizures or drowsiness can make you feel drained emotionally.
Sometimes, other people notice this change in mood or personality before you notice it in yourself. Brain trauma symptoms can vary for each person, but all of them impact your daily life.
